2024: “Panorama”

Fellow sculptor, Magda Gluszek invited me to participate in a collaborative installation for Artlink’s Art D’Core Gala at the Phoenix Art Museum. We created a panoramic landscape that explored commonalities in our work, such as the human condition and our relationship to nature. We each made work separately, communicating continuously throughout the process, and bringing our individual pieces together for the culminating installation.

Below are the pieces I made independently for the installation.

2019: “Triaxial Blends”

In early 2019 Angelica Pozo received a National Endowment for the Arts grant for collaborations In ceramic sculpture and a subsequent exhibition at the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, MN. She invited Susan Beiner of Arizona State University and I to be one of the collaborating teams. We found common ground in our mutual passion for environmental issues and concerns about what the future may hold. You can see the full exhibition catalog here.

2017: "SchoolWorks"

"SchoolWorks was an artist residency and collaboration between Christine Golden, Doug Jeck, Ben Jackel, Joe Freeman, Kelsey Duncan, and Shauna Fahley.  Videographer Doug Swift documented the collaboration in "10 Days in Clay". The collaboration took place at Pioneer School Zanesville Clay Center.

2016: "Duet: A Collaboration Between Doug Jeck and Christine Golden"

Much like a musical composition for two performers, the duet between Doug Jeck and Christine Golden generated a truly collaborative collection of sculptures.

Each artist created a variety of equivalent heads in various stages of completion; some were blank slabs, others had fully formed and resolved features.  Working side-by-side they exchanged heads up to 6 times before a resolution was agreed upon. The repeated sharing, reflecting, and reworking produced a cohesive psychological landscape.

Videographer Doug Swift documented the collaboration between Christine Golden and Doug Jeck, candidly capturing the progression and deliberations in "Duet".  The collaboration took place at Pioneer School Zanesville Clay Center. "Duet" is exhibited at Eutectic Gallery in Portland, OR.
